ReServe On The Move

NEW YORK: ReServist, Dahlia Japhet, is now serving as the Clinical Coordinator of our Dementia Care Coaching (DCC) Program. Dahlia successfully completed our 30-hour DCC training program and brings extensive personal experience in this arena. Dahlia has been assisting with increased outreach to existing and new community partners and families as well as supporting the intake, placement and monitoring process.

ReServe was recently awarded two grants for the DCC program. One is from Anthem Home Health Agencies to facilitate training to their home health care training staff. Additionally, our coaches will join their home health aides serving clients with dementia to provide guidance and support during in-home visits. ReServe was also awarded a grant from the Milbank Foundation to expand the availability and benefits of its Dementia Care Coaching (DCC) model to a broader audience including but, not limited to home health care workers. We are very excited to further the social impact of this incredible program.

SOUTH FLORIDA: ReServist, Dr. Miguel Hernandez, was selected as Program Coordinator for DCC South Florida. He coordinated the ReServists’ training at Miami Jewish Health including Dr. Marc Agronin’s lecture and preceptorships. Dr. Hernandez is also a volunteer with the Alzheimer’s Association as a Community Educator and will be making presentations to community organizations about Alzheimer’s Disease, through which he references our Dementia Care program.

NEW ENGLAND: Our New England team has been very busy the last few months. They established a relationship with MA Council on Aging at their 50 Plus networking events and Town Hall meetings promoting ReServe. They also met with the Boston Elderly Commissioner; to be included in their print copy of 800k pamphlets regarding resources for persons who are aging. The ReServe New England is launching Meet and Greet Breakfast sessions in Boston as of June 6th. Additionally, they are working with a team of Interns from Roger Williams University this summer to introduce ReServe in Rhode Island. This kicked off with a meeting with the Lt. Governor’s Office on May 21st as well as key people of the Age-Friendly Rhode Island Network.

SAN FRANCISCO: ReServe’s San Francisco team hosted their Second Annual Work Matters Event & Luncheon with over 100 attendees, 15 resource tables staffed by local organizations, and a panel discussion with experts from the field of employment and gerontology. Attendees also included representatives from the Mayor’s office and the San Francisco Department of Aging and Adult Services.  The team also collaborated with other government agencies to present to the SF Board of Supervisors on the importance of growing funding for employment programs for seniors and people with disabilities. As of July 1st, SF ReServe will be opening the ReServe application process and adding to their Partnership cohort to place 10 more ReServists and add to our current 35 active ReServists.

MID-ATLANTIC: ReServe has begun collaborating with a new Fedcap family agency, MVLE.  MVLE was founded to provide employment and support services for individuals with disabilities. Over the past 45 years, MVLE has grown to serve over 450 individuals annually from across the Northern Virginia region. ReServe and MVLE are now working in partnership to increase community partnerships as well as meaningful opportunities for ReServists in the Mid-Atlantic region.

TEXAS: ReServe is actively exploring new partnerships with Easterseals of Central Texas and Easterseals of Northern Texas. Both organizations are new members of the Fedcap family. ReServe is set to meet with the top leadership at both Easterseals sites the week of September 17th. Easterseals provides services, education, outreach, and advocacy for people living with autism and other disabilities which enable them to live, learn, work and play in their own communities. ReServe is collaborating with both Easterseals sites to infuse ReServe within each organization as well as other nonprofits in central and northern Texas.
