Frequently Asked QuestionsShould my organization become a Partner?Your organization should become a ReServe Partner if you work at a nonprofit, government agency or other public institution (such as a library or school), have staffing needs that can be filled most effectively by professionals working on a part-time basis, cannot afford to pay market rates, and can be flexible about the work assignment. What do you mean by “part-time” and “flexible”?Assignments can be time-limited or ongoing but they should involve at least 10 hours of work a week and last a minimum of three months. Most ReServists work 15 hours a week, some longer. Many ReServists want the option of setting aside one or two days a week to pursue other interests or spend time with their family. Others value the flexibility of coming into the office after or leaving before the rush hour. Over all, their focus is on getting the job done, not “time served.” How do I sign up?To partner with us, register as an Organization on our website, so we can reach out to you to discuss your needs. Registration is free and easy. What happens after I sign up?
ReServe will help identify and translate your unmet needs into part-time positions that capitalize on ReServists’ talents and experiences. We’ll help you craft the job description and post it on ReServe’s online Opportunity Board. Then you can search for talent and let us know whom you want to interview. We’ll also select candidates for you and send you the resumes of the most qualified ReServists for your organization. Who makes the hiring decision? You decide whom to interview and whom to select for the position, at which point the ReServist is put on the payroll of a third-party employer of record, which handles all HR paperwork, payroll check processing, and year-end tax documentation. What does this cost? And whom do I pay?Partners pay ReServe $15/hour for every hour the Reservist works. The third party employer of record pays the ReServists their $10 stipend, and keeps $2.40 to cover FICA, Medicare and other payroll fees. ReServe keeps $2.60 to cover its program costs. While the ReServist’s stipend is modest, it signifies that both parties will take the work seriously. What if the placement isn’t working? If the match is unsuccessful or your organization’s needs change, call us and we’ll take care of the rest. You should give us and the ReServist two weeks’ notice. We are available to intervene when necessary. What if I want to offer a ReServist a permanent part-time or full-time position? If you decide to hire the ReServist in the first year, you pay ReServe a $500 placement fee. |
