ReServe Mourns the Loss of Director Laura Traynor

Dear ReServe Family,

With profound sadness I share the news that our beloved director, Laura Traynor, passed away yesterday morning. She faced cancer with clarity and courage, even to the point of contributing to ReServe to the very end of her life.

Laura’s entire professional career was committed to changing the face of aging in this country; her passion was palpable. She had a sharp eye for fresh approaches to challenging problems and a keen intellect and possessed that unique ability to imagine what could be, and the pragmatism to effectively deal with what was.

Laura was the inspiration behind ReServe’s innovative Dementia Care Coaching Program; the driver of significant expansion of our Summer of Senior Service in Harlem; the creative force behind our efforts to engage ReServists in the for-profit business community; and visionary behind our remarkable 10-year anniversary celebration. Under Laura’s leadership we expanded ReServe to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Indiana and Pennsylvania, completely revised our outreach and marketing strategies and significantly increased the number of ReServists placed in the government and nonprofit settings. Her impact will be felt for many years to come.

Our hearts are with Laura’s beloved daughters Catherine and Caroline and her husband Keith.
