First Impressions Registration

Thank you for your interest in ReServe, a nonprofit organization that strives to connect New York City's retired professionals with part-time compensated service opportunities in the nonprofit and government sectors. To determine if ReServe’s program is a good fit for you, you must attend one of our “First Impressions” events. This event is designed to give you detailed information about our program and to give our staff the opportunity to learn about your background and interests.

ReServe is seeking candidates who are retired or semi-retired, age 55+, have computer skills, and have made a conscious decision to offer their valuable skills and experience to the nonprofit world. ReServe is not an employment or temporary agency. The opportunities through ReServe are part-time (approximately 15 hours per week). The stipend is $10 an hour, less taxes.

Step One: Review the “Program Eligibility Checklist” below and answer all of the questions.

Step Two: If you meet all of the eligibility criteria in step one, proceed to the “First Impressions Registration Form.” You are required to attend First Impressions in order to become a ReServist. Multiple dates and times for this event are available, so select a date that is your first choice. Please note we will do our best to accommodate your scheduling preference, but we have a limited number of seats, so we may have to offer you an alternative date if your first choice is no longer available. We will contact you to confirm your appointment.

Step One: Program Eligibility Checklist

Please check all that apply to you:
I am age 55 or over
I understand that ReServe will not provide me with full-time employment
I am interested in contributing to the public good and am willing and able to contribute 10-20 hours per week in a nonprofit or public setting.
I understand that I will receive a $10 per hour stipend for hours worked, with no raises, no paid vacation, and no paid personal or sick days. This modest income is considered taxable income. In addition, I have determined the impact, if any, that this additional income will have on any social security benefits.
I have a checking or savings account (my stipend will be deposited directly into my bank account).
I have a current resume that reflects my professional and volunteer experience.
I have my own e-mail account.
I can use a computer, meaning I have working knowledge of the basic software used in today's office. For example, I can create correspondence using Microsoft Word, send and receive e-mail, and conduct research on the internet using Google .
